SWFSTY

Rest of the year!

Hey all!

So, since we haven't posted in a REALLY long time, I figured I would just leave a short post to let you know what to look out for through May and June.

As you know, yesterday, we had our fabulous SWFSTY'S NifTY event and learned all about SWFSTY, NFTY-NAR, and NFTY! If you weren't there, you definitely missed out...but your more than welcome to ask any of the board members about what happened...you can also ask your friends, because they now know everything that there is to know!

As for the rest of the year, we have a couple of AWESOME things coming up.

SWFSTY specifically has a Shul-In and Youth Service coming up early in June, so look for more information on dates, times, and themes! We want everyone to be there..so save the date as soon as we tell you guys! SWFSTY is also going to hold elections towards the end of June, so come out if you want to run for a position, vote, or just hang out with SWFSTY for a really fun and relaxing day!

Now..how many of you know what Shavuot is...yea..I didn't think so.

BUT SWFSTY IS HERE TO SOVLE THAT PROBLEM!

On Thursday, June 8th, 2006 SWFS is having a HUGE Shavuot event and it is going to be incredible. Unique Entertainment, this crazy cool game show company is going to come and set up this huge wild crazy fun interesting unbelievable amazing game show for us (they come to my camp..and I cannot wait for June 8th because I am so excited)

So basically I expect to see every single one of you there!

SWFSTY will send you guys more information, so check your mail and your e-mail every day for information about all of our events and everything coming up for the rest of the year!

SAVE DARFUR!

Hey all!

So, the Jewish people have always said 'never again' right? Well, what happened to that? We always seem to sit idly by and watch horrific massacres and genocide occur.

Well now is the time to stop that!

Join us as we march on Washington SUNDAY APRIL 30th! We will be meeting at the temple and traveling down to D.C. by bus, and as a congregation (and a youth group!) we will be joining our country and fulfilling the promise of 'never again' by marching to save Darfur.

** Also, on Tuesday, March 28th, Ruth Messinger will be coming to speak on the topic, and we would love for you guys to come..PLEASE either post a comment here or e-mail Lisa at GIRL2CATS@AOL.COM if your coming, because if enough of you decide to go, we can possibly provide you guys with dinner. It's at 7:30p.m, so meet SWFSTY in the lobby!**

We urge you to take action in the fight against genocide in Darfur. Don't wait until it's too late. Do something. Now.

SWFSTY Positions!

Hey everyone!

I know that a lot of you freshmen are looking to help out more on the SWFSTY board, but you don't really know what the board IS. Well, I'm here to tell you!

In gavel order, you have:

President : Oversees everything that goes on in the youth group, and acts as a liason to NFTY-NAR and NFTY as a whole. Keeps the youth group involved and informed about NFTY events! The president also runs all board meetings.

Programming Vice President : Creates and runs all programs for SWFSTY events, and is second-in-command when the president is absent.

Religious & Cultural Vice President : Creates and leads all SWFSTY Friday-night youth services and havdalah services for programs.

Social Action Vice President : Incorporates a socially aware issue into most of SWFSTY's programs and services. Arranges soup-kitchen visits, shelter visits, etc.

Membership Vice President : Creates and runs all mixers at events, the first activity where everyone gets to know each other. MVP is also in charge of finding new members to join SWFSTY.

Communications Vice President : Creates all flyers for events, and delegates phone calls for events. CVP also takes minutes at meetings, or writes down what was discussed and accomplished at each meeting.

Well, i hope this little chart helped you guys out a little bit in what you want to help out with, or even what position you want to run for in the SWFSTY 2006-2007 elections!

Beit Café

Hey!

I'm just writing a quick post to update everyone on the quickly approaching SECOND ANNUAL BEIT CAFE on march 4th, 2006! We just held our first set of auditions, but we have another set on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 12th from 1-3pm so anyone and everyone should come on by! These auditions are open call, so if you can sing, dance, act, tell jokes, or even touch your feet to your ears drop by and show us what you've got!

Ice Skating!

JANUARY EVENT!!!

We will be ice skating on an upcoming Sunday in January. More details to follow of course, but keep your eyes open for those blue SWFSTY postcards in the mail!
